Before I talk about my own troubles, let me tell you about another book, “Computer Game Bot Turing Test”. It’s one of over 100,000 “books” “written” by a Markov chain running over random Wikipedia articles, bundled up and sold online for a ridiculous price. The publisher, Betascript, is notorious for this kind of thing.
It gets better. There are whole species of other bots that infest the Amazon Marketplace, pretending to have used copies of books, fighting epic price wars no one ever sees. So with “Turing Test” we have a delightful futuristic absurdity: a computer program, pretending to be human, hawking a book about computers pretending to be human, while other computer programs pretend to have used copies of it. A book that was never actually written, much less printed and read.

It was the decision by record companies to start giving away a free digital copy of an album when you buy the vinyl version[1].

только полная и максимально обдуманная интеграция может принести дивиденты — как межплатформенная, так и на аппаратном уровне. только полный контроль над готовым продуктом, комплексом:

[1] — просто сравните когда-нибудь ноутбук любого производителя с лэптопом Apple. и бесконечные неработающие тачпады, уродливые черты, неудобные клавиатуры, громоздкие блоки питания, кабели, итд, итп — все, к сожалению, тут же окажется на поверхности. о чем вообще можно говорить, если большая часть ноутбуков до сих не умеет выходить из режима сна при открытии.

еще раз о Kindle — во-первых, не говоря о том, что книги можно купить или одолжить, их можно высылать себе электропочтой:
You and your approved contacts can send[1] personal documents to your registered Kindle devices, supported Kindle reading applications, and your Kindle Library in the Amazon Cloud by e-mailing them to your Send-to-Kindle e-mail address ([name]@kindle.com[2]).
кроме того, для различных интернет-документов можно воспользоваться сервисами Readability или Instapaper, что, основываясь на той же почте, доставят выбранную страницу прямиком в раздел личных документов — откуда затем их можно будет направить туда, куда захочется[3].
или можно использовать Dropbox Automator, который ровно так же умеет пересылать документы из выбранной папки вам на Kindle.
плюс, так же можно направить и ваши RSS/Atom–подписки — с помощью Kindlefeeder. равно, как и другие новости. или даже простые газеты.
главное — это когда это все прочесть.
