The genuinely new, strange by definition, can be difficult to recognize. The futuristic is paradoxically familiar. I was too young to appreciate the postwar impact of Chanel’s modernism, but I did see André Courrèges and Mary Quant change things, fundamentally. Futurist designers may sometimes venture into the futuristic, and Courrèges certainly did, but really they’re about something else. They operate on the leading edge of a practical modernism, something the futuristic often seems to abhor. They invent, say, the mini-skirt.

как и любой художник, Йэн Френсис переносит на холст наполняющую его реальность. однако, его вариант кажется мне почему-то особенно созвучным тем переплетениям событий, коллажей, зарисовок — и общей недосказанности, что буквально выедают наше сознание.
очень хороший, очень. и почему-то такой близкий.

и, да, требуется очевидное мужество и смелость, чтобы признать хоть и очевидный, но, тем не менее, далеко не самый желаемый исход:

ISPs may require users to provide identifying information prior to accessing Internet content and services. The collection and preservation of identifying information associated with Internet data, and the disclosure of such information, subject to the appropriate safeguards, could significantly assist investigative and prosecutorial proceedings. In particular, requiring registration for the use of Wi-Fi networks or cybercafes could provide an important data source for criminal investigations. While some countries, such as Egypt, have implemented legislation requiring ISPs to identify users before allowing them Internet access, similar measures may be undertaken by ISPs on a voluntary basis.

The development of a universally agreed regulatory framework imposing consistent obligations on all ISPs regarding the type and duration of customer usage data to be retained would be of considerable benefit to law enforcement and intelligence agencies investigating terrorism cases.

резюмировать несложно: политики, естественно, хотят знать о вас все. и под эгидой борьбы с терроризмом, с педофилией, с наркотиками, you name it, они изо всех сил будут пытаться и дальше разместить вашу жизнь у себя под микроскопом. чтобы затем в любой момент исправить ее, обречь ее, прекратить ее.
в общем-то, бессмысленно даже комментировать происходящее, но лучше еще раз открыть “Nineteen Eighty-Four” — потому ровно так все и будет, поверьте.
и тем важнее неизменно помнить сказанное Генри Менкеном:

к слову о новых размерах — думаю, надо как-то зафиксировать смеха ради: мне в самом деле кажется, что экран с диагональю в 3.5 дюйма так и остается оптимальным решением для смартфона, а с диагональю в 9.7 — для планшетного компьютера. иными словами, модные нововведения (увеличение первого и уменьшение второго) суть попытка занять ниши, которые, в принципе, ориентированы на другие продукты.
что, однако, не помешает этой попытке стать вполне успешным бизнесом — вот только к usability это больше никакого отношения иметь не будет.

“Weird Twitter” is, simply, a loose group of Twitter users who write in a less-accessible form, using sloppy punctuation/spelling/capitalization, poetic experimentation with sentence format, first-person throwaway characters, and other techniques little known to the vast majority of “serious” Twitter users.
These users are sometimes hard to distinguish from “low-quality” users like teens with textspeak or actual bots. Several of them regularly retweet, quote, or riff on @horse_ebooks tweets.

меня бы вполне устроило, если бы по-русски в электронном виде было всё, но не для всех.
это и называется синдром вахтера, да? кого-то пропустить, кого-то нет? выделить группу “Сверхдопущенных к Столику” и радоваться личной избранности? удивительно, какая же все-таки эталонная мразь там повсеместно.
добавлено еще: и в чем отличия, например, между запретом одних недовольных или других?
