меж тем, прямо на наших глазах можно наблюдать удивительное, как методы российской государственной пропаганды становятся методами обычных же дворовых люмпенов, точно своеобразное партнерство, государственная программа “ложь в каждый дом”: так, например, одна из них, оказывается, вдруг приписывает мне какие-то совершенно безумные высказывания и утверждения, что я совершенно точно ни в какой форме и никогда не делал. более того, никаких “разговоров” у нас с ней тоже не случалось — за исключением пары реплик в известном литературном сообществе и двух моих комментариев (1 + 2) к подбираемым Яндексом упоминаниям Пинчона, на которые я подписан[1].
ссылка настолько удивительна, что, с одной стороны, нельзя не посмеяться вслед такой пустоте и беспомощности, но с другой ведь именно так все и работает, как по нотам — или иными словами, какие же все они, право слово, жалкие, жалкие выблядки.

ALEJANDRO JODOROWSKY: Yes. Artistic. Because I don’t speak about me. The expression is limited, and they’ve become the haikus of our century. I use it to share ideas—poetical, philosophical ideas. I seem to help, I answer questions. I give consultations, things like that. When I started, people laughed at me because they said it’s just for idiots, who write what they eat, what they do. It’s a tool for the politicians, celebrities, athletes, to make poems, or to make philosophy. They called me crazy. I said no, no! It is an art. I will make it an art, and I did.

вообще же, цитировать хочется многое, но ограничусь еще только двумя направлениями — о границах:
Мне сейчас 44, так что я на полпути между молодым и старым писателем. Начиная с моего поколения, поколения гораздо более размыты, их гораздо сложнее охарактеризовать и уловить. Определить 2 или 3 голоса поколения становится все труднее, и, возможно, этими голосами будут какие-то телешоу или фильмы, а не писатели. Это очень здорово в смысле творческой свободы и возможности экспериментировать, но это значит также, что у нас меньше единства и внутренней связи.
и о стенах:
В Америке, к сожалению, нет самиздата, так что мы ограничены произведениями, которые решили напечатать издатели. Это наша форма цензуры.
все так — им[1] совершенно не обязателен маленький чиновник в костюме с ластиком в руках, застрявший где-то в сыром подвале и вымарывающий нас прочь. отнюдь. можно просто не говорить на других языках. можно предпочитать блокбастеры или танцы со звездами. можно, наконец, спотыкаться об экономику — все это куда действеннее былых методов. и даже выглядит честнее.
вот только суть не меняется.

There is no such thing as ‘digital media’. There is only software – as applied to media (or ‘content’.) Or, to put this differently: for users who only interact with media content through application software, the ‘properties’ of digital media are defined by the particular software as opposed to solely being contained in the actual content (i.e., inside digital files).
и дальше:
While previous reproduction technologies such as woodblock printing, moveable type printing, printmaking, lithography, and photography retained the original form of media, the media technologies of the late 19th century abandoned it in favor of an electrical signal. In other words, they introduced coding as a way to store and transmit media. Simultaneously, these technologies also introduced a fundamentally new layer of media – interface, i.e. the ways to represent (‘format’) and control the signal. And this in its turn changes how media functions – its ‘properties’ were no longer solely contained in the data but were now also depend on the interface provided by technology manufacturers.
The shift to digital data and media software a hundred years later generalized this principle to all media.

Whole stacks of HTML files from news websites are dumped onto USB drives, brought into the country, and disseminated from person to person. The thumb drive and the data DVD have become the media of choice here for the same reason that the tape deck lived on in Cuba long after its obsolescence elsewhere.

просто не все еще это поняли:
We are announcing this morning an important development at Newsweek and The Daily Beast. Newsweek will transition to an all-digital format in early 2013. As part of this transition, the last print edition in the United States will be our Dec. 31 issue.
и, да, требуется очевидное мужество и смелость, чтобы признать хоть и очевидный, но, тем не менее, далеко не самый желаемый исход:
Exiting print is an extremely difficult moment for all of us who love the romance of print and the unique weekly camaraderie of those hectic hours before the close on Friday night. But as we head for the 80th anniversary of Newsweek next year we must sustain the journalism that gives the magazine its purpose—and embrace the all-digital future.
