I’m not sure how much Office for iPad will ultimately mean for Microsoft. Beyond Excel, what these last several years have shown many of us is that we don’t really need Office for most tasks (thanks again in large part to Microsoft refusing to release Office on devices like the iPad). We found other ways of getting stuff done.

показательно, кстати, сколько, оказывается, взрослых людей ищут в литературе — в искусстве? — четкие нравственные ориентиры, ясное разделение героев на хороших и плохих, указующий перст свыше, из авторского поднебесья.
проецируют затем дальше, несут в себе, обреченно всю жизнь повторяют когда-то усвоенные ошибки:
When we confront a situation, our mind looks for a precedent among past actions without regard to whether a decision was made in emotional or unemotional circumstances. Which means we end up repeating our mistakes, even after we’ve cooled off.

“August: Osage County”, кстати, тоже сделан исключительно хорошо. и пронырливая камера, и цвет, и игра, разумеется, — может только Камбербатча до сих пор сложно воспринимать по иную сторону зрительских ожиданий, но в остальном великолепный ансамбль, и даже некоторое удивление, что Бланшетт все же получила Оскара, победила абсолютно невероятную Мэрил Стрип.
так, да. и обстановка, диалоги, развитие — а что вообще может быть сильнее таких пьес, в лучших традициях Теннесси Уильямса, на одной ладони всем клубком перепутанных змей.
и все же какой-то изнурительный перебор. кардинальное неприятие героев, всех до одного, от несчастных до умирающих. банка с пауками, не иначе. и, опять-таки, безумная Стрип, что и здоровой-то вынести не каждому под силу. бьешься мимо их речей, отношений, страданий — и только одна мысль в голове напоследок: никого не жалко, никого, никого, — да, плюс, удушающий зной, плывущий вслед над живыми мертвецами.

In case nobody is around, the app also has a global chat mode that includes everybody on the network (with an Internet connection). So far, the team hasn’t segmented this global mode into different rooms, so things may get a bit noisy in there if the app gets traction. If that happens, I’m sure the team will rethink this setup.
There are no user accounts, so there is no need to sign in and you can remain as anonymous as you would like to be (which is probably a good idea if you are trash-talking the opposing team in a stadium, for example).
