или, пожалуйста, еще и еще истории:
We live in a society that’s sexist in ways it doesn’t understand. One of the consequences is that men are extremely sensitive to being criticized by women. I think it threatens them in a very primal way, and male privilege makes them feel free to lash out.
This is why women are socialized to carefully dance around these issues, disagreeing with men in an extremely gentle manner. Not because women are nicer creatures than men. But because our very survival can depend on it.
и это не фигура речи, это ровно так и есть:
“Women are the niggers of gender,” the email said. “If you killed yourself, I wouldn’t even fuck the corpse.”
I blinked at my phone, fighting simultaneous urges to hurl my phone across the room in anger and cry. Later that day, someone texted me my address — telling me they’d “See me when I least expected it.”
проблема в том, что с высоты собственной уверенности слепое большинство просто не понимает, о чем вообще идет речь.
вот элементарный пример из жизни, без всякой агрессии, из лучших побуждений, но, там не менее, очередная из миллионов ежедневных иллюстраций такой слепоты: на каком-то из случайных недавних приемов шапочно знакомый лоббист представил женщину, свою коллегу, как “самого красивого политолога”. но это и есть сексизм, да? мужлан даже не понял, что такой фразой он немедленно оскорбил прекрасного специалиста, указал ей навязываемое обществом место: тебе надо быть красивой, не зарывайся — а не умной, профессиональной, смелой, you name it.
впрочем, о чем вообще говорить:

что происходит у этих людей в голове? у тех, кто строчит одно за другим оскорбительные письма? кто позволяет себе процитированное выше? что за комплексы там расцветают, где преломляется мировозрение? каким ущербным ничтожеством надо быть?
