говоря про чемоданы с деньгами, надо ясно понимать одну простую вещь — там именно наши деньги:
Yet when we watch their movies, we support them.
Even if we don’t watch their movies in a theater or buy their plastic discs of hostility, we’re still supporting them. If we watch their movies on Netflix or other flat-rate streaming or rental services, the service effectively pays them on our behalf next time they negotiate the rights or buy another disc. And if we pirate their movies, we’re contributing to the statistics that help them convince Congress that these destructive laws are necessary.
They use our support to buy these laws.
я писал уже сотни раз: мы, обычные люди, ничуть не хуже их, — совсем наоборот. так почему бы нам и в самом деле не убить Голливуд? и заодно не разобраться со всеми этими чемоданами?
So maybe, instead of waiting for the MPAA’s next law and changing our Twitter avatars for a few days in protest, it would be more productive to significantly reduce or eliminate our support of the MPAA member companies starting today, and start supporting campaign finance reform.

прочел чудесную зарисовку о работе в команде (по ссылке от 
avva).
люди такие разные, you know… но почему-то из всех сообществ, с которыми я пересекался, наиболее продуктивными были именно те, что не проводили никаких тренингов.
особенно радует мысль, лейтмотивом прошедшая через обсуждения: вы можете игнорировать этот “командный дух” только если не боитесь потерять работу. так мило.

вслед за былым Далем, снова тот же ключ к решению извечных российских проблем нашла[1] вдруг Инга Ильм, былая наперсница скоморошьих Петрова и Васечкина:
русский тот – кто говорит и думает на этом языке. вот и вся недолга.
мне, в общем, достаточно безраличны национальное самоопределение и все с ним связанное. но приписывать мне свое (кхм) происхождение на основании лишь того, что я знаю и чем владею — это ли не абсурд и самонадеянность?
однако, здесь еще пол-беды. куда хуже вторая часть фразы, перекинутая легким и незаметным мостиком: “и вся недолга”. вам не только дают, отнюдь: у вас забирают — все, что было и есть. одним росчерком на всех.
и вот этот извечный великоимперский пренебрежительный взгляд — о, как его любят все, кто хоть раз сталкивался с Россией. пусть из лучших намерений. пусть тихо на кухне между собой. но это всегда неизменно, всегда ровным счетом одно и то же: мы лучше знаем, что вы хотите. мы будем решать за всех, равняя на себя. так было и будет:
<...> факт остается фактом: эстонцы имеют право перемещать по своей территории столько памятников, сколько им будет угодно.
Я спрашиваю у Коли и Янсона: разве трудно понять, что Эстония просто не хотела быть частью Советского Союза? Вот поэтому эстонцы и вознамерились перенести памятник.

мир состоит из нас, из маленьких его частиц. и, да, мы живем сами. без иных советов и чужих подарков, когда за пеленой “благодеяний” кому-то может быть незаметен ад.

ну, поскольку ТАРДИС в “Шерлоке”[1] уже обнаружили, то единственной версией о спасении главного героя теперь может быть лишь вот эта.
правда, зрителей так не успокоишь — им подавай расследования, чем нынче все и занимаются.
мне же в свете последних событий единственно логичным вариантом кажется следующий: никакого Холмса вообще никогда не было, а Ватсон и дальше прозябает в опиумных пещерах Афганистана. и доктором ему случилось быть, как понимаете, отнюдь не просто так.

как и утверждалось ранее, разговоры о чудовищных финансовых потерях суть очередная ложь:
One in three people in Switzerland download unauthorized music, movies and games from the Internet and since last year the government has been wondering what to do about it. This week their response was published and it was crystal clear. Not only will downloading for personal use stay completely legal, but the copyright holders won’t suffer because of it, since people eventually spend the money saved on entertainment products.

In the entire discussion, I’ve seen no discussion of credible evidence of this economic harm. There’s no question in my mind that piracy exists, that people around the world are enjoying creative content without paying for it, and even that some criminals are profiting by redistributing it. In my experience at O’Reilly, the losses due to piracy are far outweighed by the benefits of the free flow of information, which makes the world richer, and develops new markets for legitimate content.
